As with every other room in our home, our dining room is always evolving. This is how it looks right now but it probably won't be this way for long!
What I like about this space is that it's completely open to the rest of the kitchen. It makes it easier for me to prep for dinner while entertaining the kids can be around the table. We also enjoy having friends over and the open concept works best. When we bought the home, there was a wall dividing the dining room from the kitchen. We tore the wall out and it was one of the best changes we've ever made to this boxy ranch house!
What I don't care for so much are the dining room chairs! Disregard those! They're fine and they serve their purpose but someday we hope to buy the chairs we'd prefer to have around the table. But for now, these 'secondhand chairs' are just fine!
I love to be in a home that represents the owner's own unique style. Which means it can't always be easily replicated! That's one thing that I absolutely love about doing interior design: to creatively morph old with new, vintage with modern, antiques with Ikea all while keeping rooms coherent throughout the entire home.

This is us :)
Our tablescape is simple: a vase with water and thrift store glasses are ready to go so it's one less thing to worry about when it comes to setting the table each night!
We added the plank ceiling and beams for some extra character (and with a few sheets of plywood, a gallon of paint, a table saw, chop box, and a Saturday, you can do this too!)
